What is Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
DEIB is a framework/principles to address systematic inequities. Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging go beyond understanding biases and privileges—they provide a pathway to creating a truly inclusive and fair society.
What is Diversity
Diversity is a Fact. It encompasses how all people differ from one another.
What is Equity
Equity is a Choice. The establishment of fair and unbiased access to resources.
What is Inclusion
Inclusion is an Action. The creation of an environment that is welcoming to all people.
What is Belonging
Belonging is an Outcome. The perceived social support and feeling of connectedness.
What is Intersectionality
The term intersectionality is used here to reference the interconnected nature of identities, both group and individual.
